Before you register

  • IBJJF weighs you once, in your gi (or no-gi kit), just before your first match. There's no time to recover from a big cut.
  • Your weight moves through the day. Weigh yourself at the same time for a week or two before you choose.
  • Events can change their classes. If you're close to a limit, check the event's own page.

Questions

Does the IBJJF gi weight limit include the gi?

Yes. IBJJF gi weight limits include the gi, so the finder adds your gi's weight (2 kg unless you change it) before picking your gi class.

Which ADCC weight classes does this use?

The ADCC Open classes, which is where most athletes compete under ADCC rules. The ADCC World Championship and Trials use fewer, wider classes, and some events differ.

Does it work for kids and juvenile divisions?

No. Kids and juvenile weight classes depend on age and the event, so check the event's brackets.
